Trio of vintage fabric miniature watercolour journals in an antique wooden box

55.00

I have a collection of antique boxes which has grown with my travels and places I have lived over the years. I recently moved to Thornton, a small village in West Yorkshire famed for being the birth place of the Bronte sisters. In the village there is the tiniest, lopsided antique shop where I found this beautiful box amongst others. As soon as I opened it and saw the three little sections, I knew it need some miniature journals added to it.

This antique wooden box has the letter T in an Olde English Blackletter font on the sheet of oxidised metal that encases the box, the metal has a lovely patina and a hammered harlequin pattern which has worn with time, but this adds to its olde worldly charm. I was told it may have been a visitors card box belonging to some gentleman from the early 1900's or perhaps earlier.
