It was the 70’s when my grandparents decided to embark on an epic journey along the Silk Route, a journey by road all the way from England to Pakistan.
My late Grandmother, Edna May collected wooden trinket boxes adorned with the storytelling art of Persian and Mughal miniature paintings along her journey.
I rediscovered her collection while unpacking after relocating to Yorkshire from Ireland. Little did I know that they would spark an ardent creative exploration of my dual South Asian and European heritage that would culminate in my most beloved series of hand bound journals, The Storyteller Collection!
Created using reproduction prints of my original stylised floral gouache paintings inspired by the flowers I grew up around, my photography of textured walls and sometimes with archived antique art from past times.
This collection is dedicated to my grandmother, Edna May Khan.
