A one-of-a-kind paperback journal featuring printed Japanese paper with cranes within a hand painted border.

In Japanese art, the crane is a symbol of longevity and good fortune, said to live for a thousand years, and cranes in flight carry wishes for happiness and a long life to those who receive them.

The exposed spine is hand embellished with imitation gold leaf, aged with walnut ink. Hand bound with tea-stained handmade cotton and linen rag paper, this is a journal for those who find beauty in imperfection and a little olde-world charm.

Its earthy, toned pages make a lovely backdrop for mixed media, pressed flowers and botanical studies. Use it as an art journal, recipe book, scrapbook, as a herbarium or gardening journal to keep the seasons close.

Paper Notes: Best suited to soft pastels, technical drawing pens, acrylic and gouache. The paper is only light sized, so it will only take very light washes of watercolour.
